To make sure government censorship is prevented and free speech is bolstered, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey proposes the clear separation of Big Tech and Big Government – meaning no collusion of the two entities will be allowed to suppress the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
Bailey pointed out that the ruling on the Missouri v. Biden case, which reached the Supreme Court as Murthy v. Missouri, already indicated that “government coerced censorship” has been proven.
In 2022, then-Missouri Attorney General and now Senator Eric Schmitt, along with his Louisiana counterpart at the time, filed the lawsuit alleging that government agencies’ discussions with social media platforms about content moderation suppress free speech. Now, the case has been sent back to a lower court and Bailey suggests using this to fully expose “that vast Censorship Enterprise.”
“What the Supreme Court said was that the government absolutely coerced Big Tech social media into silencing American voices in violation of the First Amendment, but we need more evidence to prove that that censorship extended beyond the year 2021. Guess what? We’re going back to the trial court. We’re going to find it,” Bailey said.
Before the SCOTUS decision, the watchdog Media Research Center found that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of State, Department of Justice, Department of Defense, Department of Health and Human Services, National Science Foundation and the Department of the Treasury have all pushed for various forms of censorship.
“There is a shocking degree of breadth and coordination within the Biden administration to use our tax dollars against us. We have never seen this kind of effort to silence regular, everyday Americans,” MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider told Fox News Digital.
Schneider further said that the administration of President Joe Biden’s justification for its censorship initiative is astonishing. He added that Biden’s lawyers claimed that the federal government has a First Amendment right to censor citizens in court documents and oral arguments before the Supreme Court. “This inversion of the Constitution threatens the very essence of our democracy,” he warned.
Apart from censorship concerns, the MO-AG is also working on making the Biden administration pay for “inviting” illegal immigrants and illegally transferring them to his state.
According to Fox News, Bailey is filing a lawsuit against President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for refusing to turn over documents related to flying illegal immigrants into Missouri.
The lawsuit also indicated that the DHS has intentionally delayed responding to his request for the documents about the flights to Missouri.
“We have reason to believe they are deliberately flying illegal aliens from the border into our cities. Not on my watch,” Bailey wrote on X. He also indicated in the lawsuit that the lack of transparency violates the spirit and the letter of FOIA, which states that an agency shall withhold information only when the agency ‘reasonably foresees that disclosure would harm an interest protected by an exemption’ or if ‘disclosure is prohibited by law.'”
The AG pointed out that the transportation of asylum seekers into his state is a matter of public concern. The citizens of Missouri have a right to know the facts about these alleged activities, he added. He also said in the suit that DHS did not provide any notice that its response and/or production of documents would be delayed due to “unusual circumstances.” The agency also failed to inform his office of the timeline for when the responsive records will be produced.
“Once again, the Biden Administration is trying to stonewall and circumvent every aspect of the law to hide information from Americans,” Bailey alleged. “Their most recent refusal to provide the truth about the flying of illegal immigrants into Missouri is just the tip of the iceberg.” (Related: Bailey, 6 other AGs sue Biden’s HHS for forcing healthcare providers to perform genital mutilations.)
