First things first: If somehow we could communicate with our founding fathers, they would be appalled at how much freedom of speech and expression has been limited and even criminalized in the country they founded and bequeathed to us.
For instance, they would be shocked at laws against so-called “hate speech,” which a) very often is only speech that some political hack pretending to be a prosecutor claims is ‘hateful’; and b) may be uncomfortable and even vile words and speech that offend the vast majority of the people in our country — but which nevertheless does not libel, slander, or otherwise bear false witness against another.
But we’ve become so accustomed to allowing people we elect to represent us dictate how we can and cannot express ourselves, as evidenced by the Biden regime’s prosecution of four American citizens who were saying things that the regime just didn’t like.
“The Biden administration’s Department of Justice has just charged four members of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) for conspiring to act as agents of Russia by using speech and political action in ways the DOJ says “weaponized” the First Amendment rights of Americans,” writes Caitlin Johnstone on her website.
According to the Washington Post, a deep state ‘media’ outlet, on Tuesday, federal authorities filed charges against four Americans for their involvement in an alleged malicious campaign the regime claims was aimed at promoting pro-Kremlin propaganda in Florida and Missouri. The charges expand upon a previous case that had charged a Russian operative with directing unlawful influence agents within the United States.
The Post noted further:
The FBI signaled its interest in the alleged activities in a series of raids last summer, at which point authorities charged a Moscow man, Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov, with working for years on behalf of Russian government officials to fund and direct fringe political groups in the United States. Among other things, Ionov allegedly advised the political campaigns of two unidentified candidates for public office in Florida.
Ionov’s influence efforts were allegedly directed and supervised by officers of the FSB, a Russian government intelligence service. Now, authorities have added charges against four Americans who allegedly did Ionov’s bidding through groups including the African People’s Socialist Party and the Uhuru Movement in Florida, Black Hammer in Georgia, and an unidentified political group in California — part of an effort to influence American politics.
Do you know what Democrats and Republicans try to do every two and four years? “Influence American politics.”
Do you know what the left-wing, anti-Trump deep state did in 2020 to “influence” the outcome of those elections? They interfered by lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop being ‘Russian propaganda’ and having their big tech and media allies dump on the story or suppress it.
According to AFP, the conspiracy charges filed against the four individuals could result in a prison sentence of up to ten years. Three of the four members of APSP were also charged with acting as unregistered agents of Russia, which could result in an additional five-year prison sentence.
“Russia’s foreign intelligence service allegedly weaponized our First Amendment rights – freedoms Russia denies its own citizens – to divide Americans and interfere in elections in the United States,” said Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen in the DOJ’s press release regarding the indictments. He added: “The department will not hesitate to expose and prosecute those who sow discord and corrupt U.S. elections in service of hostile foreign interests, regardless of whether the culprits are U.S. citizens or foreign individuals abroad.”
Max Blumenthal, editor of The Gray Zone, says the allegations are BS — more of the same Russia, Russia, Russia hoax played on Trump.
“This fake and racist case flows from the Russiagate hysteria that convinced millions of Americans that Russia was paying dissident groups to destabilize the US political system The FBI was unable to find anything real, so it went after the African People’s Socialist Party,” he wrote on Twitter.
